Soldiers are heroes. They are ready to give up their lives just to save ours. They are deployed in hostile places and families worry if they will be able to come home alive and well.
Christy Gardner used to be in the US Army where she served as Sergeant. She is now retired. While serving in the Army, she went through an attack which changed the life she was living.
She lost consciousness during the attack and she woke up after a number of days. She says that she doesn’t remember anything about how it happened. She had fractures on her skull as well as other injuries to her body that includes damage to her spinal cord. She was left paralyzed from her knees down. She was thankful she did not die.
Christy didn’t know how she was going back to a normal life after this. She had seizures because of damage in her brain. She had to relearn how to talk and how to do other basic stuff.
She had to retire and went back home. She now has a service dog with her. This dog is Moxie and Moxie will be a very important part of her life.
While she used to do active sports, Christy can no longer do them. She started to be depressed and started thinking about ending her life. She felt like she no longer had any purpose in life and that she cannot do the things that she wants to do in her current state.
Thanks to Moxie, Christy was able to pull through those dark thoughts. Moxie provided her with support – emotionally and physically. Moxie gave her a will to live and battle depression. Christy now no longer has suicidal thoughts and she is now happy to have Moxie by her side.
