When you are given the chance to change a life, grab that chance. That is what Bonita Hatcher did. When she saw an ad about a disabled dog, she responded with the determination to get the dog.
A breeder was deciding on whether to put Trooper down or have him adopted instead, so the breeder put up an ad to see if there was a chance for him to be taken in by a family. Thankfully, Bonita responded and gave the dog a second chance at life.
When they first got Trooper, he could hardly walk. When he does a few steps, he will tumble over. Trooper was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia where the control of his movements and his motor skills has not fully developed yet. He would walk like he is prancing.
Trooper does not focus on the negative though and would always push himself. When he went up to the stairs on his own, his mom was the proudest. Every achievement that he gets, his mom will always be his first cheerleader.
Trooper never wants to be left behind so he goes on adventures with the family, and he does not mind that he walks differently than the others. Trooper’s mom has taught him to be confident, to not fear anything. If he had no courage or confidence, what else will he have?
His mom wants Trooper to live, not just survive. She wants him to enjoy the life that he has now, and Trooper is very grateful for it. He has also taught his mom and everyone around him that it is okay to be different.
He has taught everyone that despite any disability one can have, you can still be happy. It will always be a choice for someone to put a smile on their face despite their circumstance.
