This fluffy little dog hadn’t had a real home for quite some time, except for the streets that she had been roaming, and she had managed quite well on her own, all things considered. She was friendly enough for the people to approach and sometimes they would leave food that would tide her up, at least for the next day or two, before she would resume her search for more. She wasn’t all that trusting, however, probably because she had quite a rough experience with her previous master, which most likely led to her being homeless.
She would only let people close enough to let them share their food with her, but they were never allowed to enter her personal space and pet her or anything, let alone carry her and take her home with them. Eldad and Lisa of the Hope For Paws organization were out on an errand when they spotted the little homeless dog standing by the side of the road and quickly switched to rescue operation mode. They approached the dog with careful but decisive steps, and sure enough, she was happy to greet them and see what they’d brought for her, but there was no touching allowed.
They used her friendly disposition to their advantage and convinced her to follow them to the area where they had parked their car using the cheeseburger that they had brought for her. The dog was happy to do as they asked and when they were at the parking area, it only took one try for Eldad to secure the little dear using a snare. She did struggle for a bit, so her rescuer tried to calm her down by talking to her in a low-sounding voice and telling her that it was going to be all right.
Before long, she had finally allowed both rescuers to pet her, and soon it was time to leave and head home for a nice, warm bath. They named her Scout.
