You’ll be surprised to hear that bullying exists in the animal kingdom as well. Especially, species like monkeys who have a systematic way of socializing. When a certain monkey becomes an outcast, it can be hard for them to adjust to a solo life.
Boknam is a special case. He is a monkey outcast with nowhere to go. Veterinarians are taking care of him to make sure he recovers from his trauma. They want to make him confident and sociable.
This proved to be a tricky task as there are times when Boknam suddenly becomes violent and fearful. He also eats like he is being chased, always in a rush. When he is taken outside, he crawls on the ground and desperately wants to crawl away.
To make things better. The vets decided to bring in a labrador named Sarang. Boknam needs to socialize with another animal so a dog might be of great help, and it was!
At first, the two animals were awkward around each other. Boknam eventually reached out first, and that was the start of a new friendship.
At first, Sarang was leashed near Boknam’s cage. Several days after introducing the two they had to make these animals interact outside of the cage. It took a while for Sarang to approach Boknam, but eventually, they started playing together. Soon toys were added into the mix.
They’ve gotten so close they would often eat and sleep together. Boknam would even sleep on top of the dog. Although Boknam is still scared of going outside, as long as Sarang is there with him, the monkey can make significant strides.
The two are almost inseparable and are recovering together from past traumas. There’s one particular part of the video that is very entertaining to watch. Check out the moment they share their food in the video.
